1. How to hear the bass note – Many of you have been having such a difficult time hearing the bass and rightly so! The bass can be very difficult to hear, because it’s so low and you don’t know which bass note to focus on when the bass is moving so much. I give you very clear steps and procedures on how to work through these difficult concepts, step-by-step.
2. How to figure out what key the song is in – Another difficult concept to tackle is how to figure out what key the song is in. This is difficult, because you have not tuned your hearing yet. Once you see how easy it is, from a step-by-step perspective, then you will be able to train your ear quickly. I teach you how to hear the I Chord and ignore all of the other “stuff” that usually gets in the way from hearing the key.
3. I also give you a variation of urban and contemporary music in which to learn from. I have chosen to use Martha Munizzi’s songs, because they are a perfect blend of urban and contemporary styles. We also added some really funky stuff from Byron “Talkbox” Chambers which will give you that extreme urban feel.

Listen to the list of songs we have:
a. Say the Name
b. Because of Who You Are
c. Jesus is the Best Thing
d. “Oh Yea” Audio and MIDI Lessons (1-Hour)
On the documentation CD-ROM we have included 8-Audio lessons, which contain eight of the most popular progressions in urban and contemporary worship. The purpose of these tools is to allow you to practice hearing popular progressions. I have included 8 of the most popular urban and contemporary worship progressions, so that you can put the audio in your car or your iPod and listen to the progressions, so that you will be able to recognize them immediately when you hear them. I purposely added extra “junk,” runs, and riffs to throw you off. You are not always going to hear a progression in its simplest form, so I purposely added some very popular “stuff” to it so you can hear it in different forms. I have also included the sheet music and MIDI file along with it for those of you who would like to learn all of these progressions and pick up all of the extra licks I added as well.
LEARNING THESE PROGRESSIONS AND LEARNING HOW TO HEAR THEM
ARE THE KEYS TO YOUR EAR TRAINING!
Virtual Keyboard and LMS on Steroids
We have upgraded our LMS (Live MIDI Sync) system to display larger keys on the screen. We know how important it is for you to catch EVERYTHING that you see and hear on your instructional DVDs, so we upgraded our LMS system to be able to display a larger virtual keyboard with lit up keys and with richer colors so you can see all of the notes. Obviously, we still have the overhead keyboard as well so you can see my fingers.
WARNING: Always make sure your instructional DVDs have this LMS technology. We were the first to introduce this to the instructional DVD market with the Urban Worship Classic and it is crucial to your learning process.
Midi File Player - What is this MIDI stuff all about?
For those of you who are not familiar with MIDI file learning, here is how it works. A MIDI file is a way to record every single thing that I have played on the keyboards and present it back to you on a virtual keyboard. See, many of you do not know how to read music, so the only way to see the notes is to stand over my shoulder and look at my fingers or have the Left/Hand,Righ/Hand notes laid out for you—Which we do as well! So essentially, we included MIDI files, because there are always times when you hear something you really like and you say to yourself, “What did Jamal just do there?” Now, you have a way to see every single thing that is done, via a “virtual” keyboard representation of the lit up keys. The only things missing are my fingers. You download and install the vanBosco MIDI player and see every thing that I have done. The absolute best things about MIDI learning are:
1. You can slow down the music to really see the notes
2. You can change the key, so that you can learn and see the movements done in the desired key.
3. You won’t miss a thing!!!
Audio and MIDI Lessons for Your Car or iPod
What I have discovered about your learning is that you lack the repetitious and continuous audio and visual reinforcement that it takes in order to get these movements. This is why I have provided the most popular musical movements and progressions in audio, along with the sheet music and the MIDI for extra Learning. These audio progression classes are not a part of the Play by Ear DVD. This is EXTRA reinforcement.
You see, it is very important for me to isolate very important progressions, so you can hear the. Do you realize that 99% of all songs are nothing more than a bunch of progressions; especially, in our urban type of music that we play and hear. Learning to hear and play all of the most popular progressions are the keys to playing any and everything you hear!
***Attention: As an added bonus, we have also included all of the Play by Ear DVD on Audio, so that you can listen to the DVD, and the EXTRA progressions in your car, so that you are constantly inundating your ear with these progressions.
What You Get:
1.Audio lessons of the most popular progressions
2.I call out the left-hand, right-hand chords, note-for-note on the audio lessons!!!
3.Play by Ear Audio of the Play by Ear DVD
4.All MIDI files of the Play by Ear DVD
5.All Sheet Music to the Play by Ear DVD
6.All Sheet Music to the Extra Progressions
7.All MIDI files to the Extra Progressions
eBook Step-by_Step Cookbook
We have included an eBook with this course. The eBook is a step-by-step “cookbook” of how to apply the principles and explains the process behind learning songs. We give you test questions, and things to learn and practice. It just can’t get any easier than this.
Left Hand Right Hand Chords AND Sheet Music

We know that some people know how to read music and some people don’t. So for those of you who read music, we have included the sheet music to all of the movements, along with the MIDI. For those of you who do not know how to read, we have included the left-hand, right-hand “gospel style” chord notations, which are so easy to follow in an excel spreadsheet type look and feel.
